David Price Agrees to One-Year Deal with Rays
(TAMPA, Fla) -- It's possible the Tampa Bay Rays will be holding onto their ace for at least one more season.
Lefthander David Price agreed to a one-year deal for $14 million on Thursday, avoiding arbitration with the team that drafted him.
Price has one more season of arbitration eligibilty in 2015, but is scheduled to become a free agent after the season. He has been the subject of trade speculation over the past several months, but the Rays have decided not to go through with any deals as of yet.
The 28-year-old Price is a three-time All-Star in his six MLB seasons. He won the AL Cy Young Award in 2012 and finished second in voting back in 2010.
In 27 starts last season Price went 10-8 with a 3.33 ERA. He made $10 million in 2013, but he is believed to be seeking a large multiyear contract.
