The 35-year-old Nowitzki has spent his entire 16-year career with the Mavericks, and is all but likely a lock for the Hall of Fame once he retires.

With his contract up after the season, Nowitzki expects an easy negotiation with the team.

“In the summer I will be a free agent and likely extend the contract for two or three years,” Nowitzki said in an interview with Sports1. “As long as the body supports me, it is still fun to play basketball. After the new contract I will be 38 or 39 and I will probably stop. For a few years it will work out all right”

Even this late into his career, Nowtizki remains one of the NBA’s best big men. Since making his debut during the 1998-1999 season, Nowitkzi has averaged 22.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Nowtizki helped lead the Mavericks to their only NBA title during the 2010-2011 season.
