ESPN: Bobby Petrino Offered Louisville’s Head Coaching Job

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — A return to the University of Louisville may be in the cards for former head coach Bobby Petrino.
The Western Kentucky coach has been offered the vacant head coaching position at Louisville and is expected to return to the school, according to ESPN. Petrino would be replacing Charlie Strong, who took the head coaching job at Texas.
Petrino coached the Cardinals from 2003 to 2006 and went 41-9 before leaving for the NFL. He returned to the collegiate ranks in 2008 as the head coach of Arkansas, but was fired in 2012 following an accident in which the coach was injured while riding a motorcycle with his mistress.
Western Kentucky hired Petrino in December 2012, signing him to a four-year contract with a base salary of $850,000. It includes a $1.2 million repayment to the school if he terminates the deal early.
The 52-year-old Petrino has an all-time record of 83-30 as a college coach.
