Capt. Christopher S. Stover, Capt. Sean M. Ruane, Sgt. Dale E. Mathews and Sgt. Afton M. Ponce were serving with 48 Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath — part of USAFE (US Air Forces Europe).

Stover and Ruane were piloting the HH-60 helicopter during a low-level training mission Tuesday when the aircraft crashed in a wildlife reserve area known as the Salthouse Marshes on the northeast English coast.  Mathews and Ponce were the special mission aviators.
