Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame
Published at(NEW YORK) — Former Braves pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine were elected to the Hall of Fame on Wednesday by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Joining them will be “The Big Hurt” Frank Thomas.
Maddux received 97.2 percent of the vote, Glavine had 91.9, and Thomas finished with 83.
In order to get in, players must own 75 percent of the ballot.
Inductions will be held on July 27 at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Last year the association failed to induct anyone into the Hall of Fame for the first time since 1996.
On this year’s ballot, Craig Biggio received 74.8 percent of the vote, Mike Piazza, 62.2 percent, Jack Morris, 61.5 percent in final year on the ballot, and Barry Bonds nabbed 34.7 percent.
