Heat’s Greg Oden Feeling Good After Season Debut
(PHILADELPHIA) -- After playing in his first NBA game since 2009, Miami Heat center Greg Oden is feeling good and is taking the necessary steps to further along his comeback.
"It's nothing I can't manage," Oden said on Thursday about some minor soreness. "I'm just looking forward to playing in the next game."
Oden was the number one pick in the 2007 Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers but his career has been decimated by knee injuries. His basketball future was in doubt after playing his last professional game back in December of 2009, but he tirelessly worked to get back on the court and was signed by Miami during the offseason.
"I got to play in a game," Oden continued. "That's what it really is, when you're able to battle and be out there. I would have loved for us to win and say I was able to give us a spark. But you just move onto the next game, and hope I can play."
In his season debut on Wednesday, Oden scored six points and pulled down two rebounds in eight minutes of action. He says his knees are "fine [with] no swelling."
