(INKOM, ID) – One of Inkom’s most recognizable buildings was torn down this week. The manufacturing section of the Ash Grove Cement Plant, which has been out of operation since 2008, was demolished on Thursday. Dozens of residents with ties to the company watched as the plant was torn apart piece by piece. Part of the plant remains open as a terminal to provide cement for local customers. The facility has been in Inkom since 1929. Officials say environmental restrictions played a significant factor in forcing the company to tear down the plant.
