(WASHINGTON) — Secretary of State John Kerry criticized the Syrian regime for not complying with the deal it struck with the United Nations to remove its chemical weapons stockpile, and warned of military force against Bashar al-Assad if the non-compliance continues.
“The options are all the options that originally existed. No option has been taken off the table,” Kerry said after a meeting with the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In a later event with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Kerry said the international community has “serious issues” with Syria.
“The Assad regime is not moving as rapidly as it promised to move the chemical weapons out of Syria. So we have serious issues to talk about in terms of compliance,” he said.
