Knox and Sollecito were accused — and at first found guilty — of the stabbing death of Meredith Kercher in 2007 in Perugia, Italy.

After doing four years in prison, the pair was acquitted. The current trial is an appeal of the not-guilty verdict, something possible under Italian law.

According to ABC News’ Megan Williams, lawyers for Knox said she can’t wait for the nightmare to end and that she is confident the court will proclaim her innocence.

Knox is remaining in the United States for the case and says if she is found guilty again, she will not return to Italy and accept her status as a fugitive. She would face 30 years in prison if found guilty.

The verdict for this third trial is expected on Jan. 30.
