Minnesota Downs (11) Ohio State at Home
(MINNEAPOLIS) -- For the first time since 2009, Ohio State has lost three straight games. The 11th ranked Buckeyes most recent defeat came on the road in a 63-53 loss at Big Ten rival Minnesota. The Golden Gophers snapped a seven game losing streak to Ohio State, last winning in 2010.
In a highly competitive contest, the two teams entered the second half tied at 29-29. After the Buckeyes (15-3) took a 39-38 advantage on a LaQuinton Ross free throw, Minnesota used an 8-0 run to take over a lead that they would not relinquish. Ohio State closed to within three, but another spurt from the Golden Gophers (14-4) helped put things out of reach.
With a six-point lead, Andre Hollins hit a three to increase the advantage to 55-46 in favor of Minnesota. On the ensuing trip down the floor, Austin Hollins stole the ball from Aaron Craft and made a layup to put the Gophers ahead double digits. Ohio State would not be able to close the gap in final three minutes, falling to 2-3 in conference play.
Elliott Eliason had a double-double for Minnesota with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Ross finished with a game-high 22 points for the Buckeyes.
