(ROME) — A new book on the thoughts of Pope John Paul II will soon be published. But it’s one that may not have been pleasing to John Paul himself.
The book, Very Much in God’s Hands, is a collection of meditations that John Paul began recording in 1962 when he was a bishop in Poland, until just two years before he died in 2003. He left clear instructions with his secretary Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz to burn the notes, but Dziwisz says he “didn’t have the courage to” follow through with John Paul’s wish. While Dziwisz did burn some letters and notes, he kept the notes he says give insight into the pope’s soul, and is now having them published.
Very Much in God’s Hands will be released in Poland Feb. 5.
