Oklahoma Knocks (9) Iowa State from the Ranks of the Unbeaten
Published at(NORMAN, Okla.) — Buddy Hield scored 22 and Ryan Spangler chipped in 16 points and 15 rebounds to help Oklahoma hand No. 9 Iowa State its first loss of the season, 87-82 Saturday.
“Huge win, obviously,” Kruger said. ” (Head coach) Fred (Hoiberg) does such a good job. They’ve got so many weapons. They space the floor and just make it awfully tough to guard. You’ve got to pick your poison sometimes. I’m really happy for our guys.”
DeAndre Kane led the Cyclones with 23 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Kane injured his ankle and left the game with 22 seconds remaining.
“It looked like he was making a play to the basket and I’m assuming that he stepped on one of their players’ feet,” Hoiberg said. “I’m guessing that’s how he turned it.”
Oklahoma (13-3) shot 52% from the field in the win.
Iowa State (14-1) has its school-record 14-game win streak snapped.
