(DRIGGS, ID) – A statewide pilot program aimed at combating suicides in public schools is gaining traction. The Idaho Lives Project is an initiative being launched by the state Department of Education and the Suicide Prevention Action Network of Idaho. Teton High School, which had two student suicides in 2010, will be one of eight schools taking part in the project. The school will receive a $3,000 grant and additional training for staff and students. Idaho has the sixth highest suicide rate in the country. State administrators say 15 percent of Idaho high schoolers reported seriously considering suicide in 2011.
