Sabathia Signs with RocNation Sports
(NEW YORK) -- New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has officially signed with RocNation Sports, the sports agency started by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z. Sabathia had been with Legacy Sports Group his entire career, but will now be represented by RocNation both on and off the field.
Sabathia has three years left on his current contract with the Yankees and is guaranteed to make $76 million over that time. The 33-year-old currently has an endorsement deal with the Jordan Brand and has also done advertisements for Subway and Pepsi.
RocNation spokesman Ron Berkowitz said that when Sabathia's contract ends in 2017, president Juan Perez and Jay-Z will work together to negotiate the pitcher's next contract. Of the firm's six clients, half play in New York including Jets quarterback Geno Smith and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.
Jay-Z also represents former Yankee, and current Seattle Mariner, Robinson Cano as well as WNBA star Skylar Diggins and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.
