(POCATELLO, ID) – The state legislature will take up a bill later this year that would allow students and staff with concealed carry permits to carry firearms on public college and university campuses. Idaho State University security officials say the Pocatello campus is one of the top five safest universities in the nation. The school has never dealt with a gunman on campus, but officials aren’t sure if that will last. Political science professor Sean Anderson believes allowing properly-licensed people to carry would help protect others in an emergency. Pocatello Police say their response time to campus emergencies is about two minutes.
