Stepping Down: White House Senior Advisor on Health Care

Pete Souza / The White House(WASHINGTON) — Chris Jennings, a senior White House health care advisor who was a key part in the rollout of the health insurance marketplace, is leaving the White House “due to a recent health scare and other serious family considerations,” a White House aide said Thursday.
Jennings, who previously served as President Bill Clinton’s chief health care advisor for six years, joined the White House in July to help with the rollout of the health care exchanges.
“We are all focused on reducing health care costs and implementing the Affordable Care Act. Nobody does so with more intellect, fortitude, and heart than Chris Jennings,” White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said in a statement. “Chris served the country at a time when he was needed most. He will be deeply missed but we all wish him the best and know that he will continue to be a key player in health care and always a champion for quality affordable health care for all Americans.”
“It has been a great privilege to work with the President and his incredibly dedicated team on the Affordable Care Act,” Jennings said in a statement. “I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to serve. It has been an honor to help ensure that the promise of affordable, quality health care embodied in this historic law becomes the reality for all Americans. This is the cause of my professional life and I look forward to making continued contributions to that end.”
