(SANDPOINT, ID) – Thousands of people lined the streets of Sandpoint Saturday to honor the family of a fallen hero. Organizers say some people came from hundreds of miles away to wave flags and signs to show support for the family of 28-year-old Air Force Capt. David Lyon, who died in Afghanistan last month. Lyon’s vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device Dec. 27. Residents remembered the Air Force Academy graduate as a stellar athlete at Sandpoint High School, and a quiet, natural leader.
