Cox/Getty Image(PEORIA, Ill.) — Ron Baker scored 15 points and Tekele Cotton added 13 to help No. 2 Wichita State become the first Division 1 men’s team to go 30-0 in the regular season by smacking Bradley 69 to 49 Tuesday night.

“I told the team no team has ever gone 30-0 in the regular season. In all of the years of college basketball,” Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall explained to ESPN 2. “We’re obviously playing more games now so that’s how you do that. All those UCLA teams and UNLV teams…but it’s a first so I’m pleased. Even though we didn’t play our best, I’m pleased with a 20 point win on the road.”

Marshall is being modest. The Shockers never trailed in the game and built a 10 point lead by halftime. The second half didn’t go any better for Bradley (12-18, 7-10, Missouri Valley Conference) which has now lost ten-straight to Wichita State.

Wichita State (30-0, 17-0, MVC) becomes the 11th team to reach 30-0, although all of the other teams did it in the postseason. The last team to start 30-0 was the 1990-91 UNLV team which ended up going 34-0 before losing to Duke in the national semifinals.

The Shockers will try to close out their perfect regular season on Saturday when they host Missouri State. If Wichita State wins, they will become the first team since Saint Joseph’s during the 2003-04 season to finish a regular season unbeaten.
