76ers Reaching New Heights of Futility

NBA Logo(OAKLAND Calif.) — It was widely known that the Philadelphia 76ers would be taking their lumps this season as they look to build a competitive roster for the future. But after back-to-back losses of more than 40 points, the team is losing in near historic fashion.
“It’s hard for everybody,” Sixers first-year head coach Brett Brown said. “The reality of it is that they have put in so much time and despite all the turmoil, it’s a group that’s been together, stayed together. At times, you look up and you have to keep going and keep playing with some level of dignity, and it’s hard doing that.”
On Monday night, the team fell to the Golden State Warriors 123-80, dropping them to 15-38 this season, which is the second-worst in the NBA. The loss came a day after the team fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 123-78.
The Sixers have lost their last two games by a combined 88 points, the third-worst point differential over two straight games in the same season in NBA history.
There is a silver lining to all the losses the team has piled up this season. They do have a Rookie of the Year front-runner in Michael Carter-Williams, they have rookie center Nerlens Noel recovering from injury, two likely lottery picks in the upcoming draft, and could have more cap space this off-season than any other team.
