Amanda Knox Judge in Hot Water over Comments to Newspaper
Published at(ROME) — The Italian judge who presided over the Amanda Knox case is facing disciplinary action after he made what have been called “inappropriate comments” on the case to an Italian paper.
Last week, Judge Alessandro Nencini sentenced Knox to 28-and-a-half years in prison for the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher. Knox’s then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito got 25 years.
After the trial, the judge told Italian journalists that the fact that Sollecito didn’t testify hurt his cause. He also said he had “suffered over the verdict” against the pair because he has children of his own.
Nencini added the fact that Knox and Sollecito apparently changed their original plans the night Kercher was murdered helped tip the decision towards condemning the two.
