Olivier Hanlan and Patrick Heckmann hit clutch three-pointers in overtime as the Eagles stunned top-ranked Syracuse 62-59.

Boston College (7-19, 3-10 ACC) lost five straight coming in and rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to pull off the upset. Lonnie Jackson sank four free throws in overtime to seal it.

“It was an emotional game for us,” Boston College head coach Steve Donahue said after his first win in eight tries against the Orange at the Carrier Dome. “It’s been incredible for these guys to persevere. We’ve played well in a lot of games.”

Syracuse (25-1, 12-1) shot a season-low 32.2 percent from the field, including going 2-of-12 from 3-point range.  C.J. Fair scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Orange suffered its first setback of the season.

“When you get in enough of these games, there’s going to be one you’re not going to make a play. That’s what happens,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. “At the end of games, you get into enough of these games, you’re not going to win.”

The loss leaves No. 3 Wichita State (28-0), as the lone unbeaten team in Division I college basketball.
