Canada Shuts Out United States, 1-0 Advances to Gold Medal Game

Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(SOCHI, Russia) -- Canada will meet Sweden in the gold medal game after shutting out the United States, 1-0 on Friday in their semifinals matchup.

The lone goal of the game came 18:19 into the second period when Jamie Benn got one past goalie Jonathan Quick.

Benn's goal in the second period was also his second goal of the Olympics.

Quick had 37 shots fired at him and made 36 saves.

Canada goalie Carey Price, the starting goalie for the Montreal Candiens, made 30 saves on 30 shots to bring his team to the gold medal game.

The United States will play Finland on Saturday in the bronze medal game.
