Chris Paul Will Play Sunday
Published at(PLAYA VISTA, Calif.) — After missing the past 18 games with a separated shoulder Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul will return to the court Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced Saturday.
Paul, who has been out since Jan. 3, has participated in some one on one games with teammates the past couple of weeks. Before practice Saturday, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said there was a “50-50” chance Paul would play Sunday, but after practice it was clear the 28-year-old was ready to play. Still, Rivers doesn’t think Paul will be his old self right away.
“I think it’s going to take Chris some time to get his rhythm back,” Rivers said. “So that’s why I’m hoping he is healthy and then we can play him Sunday, have a practice Tuesday and play him Wednesday. I think that’ll help. I think it’s going to take a couple of weeks for him to get his rhythm back. No doubt.”
In 34 games this season Paul is averaging 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game.
