Colorado Avalanche Kills Two Skiers
Published at(DENVER) — Two skiers are dead after an avalanche struck on back country trails southeast of Denver Saturday night.
Susan Matthews with Lake County Emergency Management said the two skiers had been reported missing. Their bodies “were discovered in the top part of the avalanche and that’s what made the rescue operation so treacherous,” she said.
After this tragic accident, Matthews urges “anyone who wants to do back country skiing…make absolutely certain that they’re fully prepared.”
Five others were reportedly involved in the incident. None of their identities have been released.
