Davis: Boost Highway Speeds

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – An Idaho Falls lawmaker is introducing a bill that would increase the speed limit on some Idaho roadways.  Senator Bart Davis wants highway speeds boosted from 65 to 70 miles per hour, and standard interstate speeds increased to 80 miles per hour. Davis is modeling his legislation after laws in other states. Utah recently increased speeds along I-15 to 80 miles per hour between the Idaho border and Tremonton. Semi-trucks would still have to travel 10 miles per hour under the speed limit. If passed, the law would go into effect July 1.
