“It’s not official yet but hopefully it will be,” Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said on Sunday. “It gives us another big and what I like about a guy like that is that he can play a five with a four. If we got a guy like that, he also knows my system.

This past Friday, Davis and the Orlando Magic reached a buyout once the trade deadline ended, and Davis was promptly waived.

Davis will reunite with Rivers as he coached Davis from 2007-2011 when both were part of the Boston Celtics organization. The two won an NBA title together in 2008 as well.

In 45 games for the Magic this season, the 28-year-old Davis averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He will provide some depth off the bench for the first place Clippers.
