Greinke strained his right calf in the first inning of the Dodgers game Thursday, and was led of the field by the team’s director of medical services Stan Conte.

“I just felt something in my calf,” Greinke said. “Just try to take care of it this early in spring. Hopefully it’s not a big deal. I think it’s minor. We’ll see in a couple of days. Right now, I don’t feel too bad.”

The Dodgers ruled Greinke’s removal from the game as “precautionary,” and Greinke said if it were the regular season he would have continued to pitch.

The 30-year-old Greinke pitched 177.2 innings last season compiling a 15-4 record with a 2.63 ERA, 148 strikeouts and a 1.11 WHIP.
