LeBron James had 31 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds as the champs outlasted the Los Angeles Clippers 116-112 on Wednesday night.

Dwayne Wade and Ray Allen combined to score 29 points for the Heat, (35-13) who had seven total players score in double figures.

Miami led for most of the game, but the Clippers (34-18) came charging back.  They were within two when Allen hit the biggest shot of the night, a left corner three-pointer that made it 112-107 with 42.4 seconds remaining.

“That’s when the talent kicks in,” James said. “The play was broken down a little bit, but D-Wade made a heck of a play by getting into the paint, and Ray just kept moving into his favorite spot — one of those corners. D-Wade found him with a great pass, and Ray nailed it.”

Blake Griffin scored 43 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the loss for the Clippers, while Jamal Crawford added 31.
