(POCATELLO, ID) – Administrators at Idaho State University are actively opposing a bill that would allow for the licensed concealed carrying of firearms on campus.  President Arthur Vailas and other staff have voiced concerns that the measure could hurt the school’s nuclear engineering program. ISU has several research projects being supervised by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which bans guns at most nuclear facilities for security reasons. The bill’s supporters aren’t worried, however, noting that the University of Utah allows concealed carrying on its campus, and also conducts significant nuclear research.
