(LOS ANGELES) –The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free agent left-handed pitcher Paul Maholm to a one-year contract on Saturday. The deal is worth $1.5 million, according to ESPN.
In 26 starts with the Atlanta Braves last season, the 31-year-old Maholm went 10-11 with a 4.41 ERA. He struck out 105 batters in 153 innings of work.
Maholm was originally chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the eighth overall pick in the 2003 MLB draft. He spent seven seasons with the Bucs, compiling a record of 53-73 with a 4.36 ERA.
To make room on their 40-man roster for Maholm, the Dodgers placed left-handed Scott Elbert on the 60-day disabled list.
