The 24-year-old seventh-round draft pick out of USC becomes only the third linebacker ever to win the Super Bowl MVP. Smith also becomes the first player to have a interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery in the same Super Bowl.

It could be argued Smith is one of many Seahawks defensive players who could have won the award. The Hawks forced the Denver Brocncos into four turnovers and held the highest-scoring offense in league history to a season-low eight points.

Kam Chancellor had 10 tackles, two passes defended and an interception in the win.
