(BOISE, ID) – Gov. Butch Otter has ordered Idaho State Police to conduct a criminal investigation into allegations of understaffing and falsifying documents at the state’s largest prison. Otter announced the decision Tuesday at the behest of Attorney General Lawrence Wasden. Corrections Corporation of America has operated the prison south of
Boise for over a decade, and has acknowledged that staff were involved in illegal activities at the prison, including fraud. Otter says the public deserves to know the ways CCA employees allegedly violated their $29 million annual contract with the state.
