Prisoner Exchange for Bergdahl Possible
Published at(BOISE, ID) – The Obama administration is renewing its efforts to free Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The Sun Valley native was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan nearly five years ago. Bergdahl’s parents say they’re “cautiously optimistic” about the latest development. The administration is hoping to negotiate for Bergdahl’s release through a prisoner exchange as part of a “last-ditch” effort before coalition forces scale down combat operations in the region. Intelligence officials believe Bergdahl is being held by the Haqqani Network in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
