Mike McGinnis/Getty Images(PEORIA, Ariz.) — Second baseman Robinson Cano took the field for the first time as a member of the Mariners on Tuesday, participating in Seattle’s spring training workout.

The Mariners signed Cano away from the New York Yankees this past off=season, giving the five-time All-Star a 10-year contract worth $240 million.

Last year with the Bronx Bombers, the 31-year-old batted .314 with 27 home runs and 107 RBIs. The Mariners offense finished the 2013 campaign 12th in the American League with 624 runs scored.

“We got a team that can go out there and compete,” Cano said. “We got some good, young talent. Good pitching.”

Already one noticeable change with Cano as a Mariner: he was sporting a beard, something that is against the policy of the Yankees.
