Royals to the Rescue: William and Harry Aid Flood Effort
Published at(LONDON) — Princes William and Harry assisted the British military Friday in defending a village from flooding that has for weeks plagued southwestern England.
The royals were spotted helping residents of a village near Windsor protect their properties with sandbags on Friday. In recent days the river Thames has spilled its banks west of London.
Prince Harry is still a serving officer with the Household Cavalry regiment, which has been tasked to help with flood relief.
A spokesman from Kensington Palace said the brothers, “wanted to show their support for the flood victims and have joined the armed forces relief effort.”
The Queen is helping too, but not with the sandbagging. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said, “The Queen is supporting Somerset farmers affected by the flooding on the Somerset Levels by contributing feed and bedding from the royal farms at Windsor.”
