The 2011 National League MVP was suspended on July 22 as part of the league’s investigation into the Biogenesis clinic in Miami. Braun released a statement last August, admitting that he used a “cream and a lozenge” as he rehabilitate from an injury during the 2011 season.

“Disappointing for me, obviously to be away from the game, away from my teammates, away from  the sport I enjoy playing so much” Braun said of his ban. “Definitely a challenging time for me.”

In 61 games last year, Braun hit .298 with nine home runs and 38 RBIs.
