Stock Markets Mostly Unchanged
Published at(NEW YORK) — The stock markets haven’t changed much after last week’s rally. Fairly quiet trading followed a surge in the stock averages late last week, with investors awaiting Janet Yellen’s first comments before Congress as the new Federal Reserve chairwoman.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose just 8 points to close at 15,802. The Nasdaq Composite finished up 22 points at 4,148.17. The S&P 500 closed at 1,799, up 3 points for the session.
Activist investor Carl Icahn is backing off his campaign to pressure Apple’s board of directors into spending $50 billion, to buy back its own stock.
Shares of Yelp rose after a report that Yahoo will integrate material from the online reviews site into its search engine.
