Taliban Suspends Bergdahl Release Talks
Published at(BOISE, ID) – Taliban officials have suspended talks to release Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The 27-year-old Hailey, Idaho native was captured in Afghanistan in 2009. Bergdahl’s current location is not known, though intelligence officials believe he may be held in the tribal regions of Pakistan. The latest negotiations would’ve secured Bergdahl’s release in exchange for five senior Taliban operatives in U.S. custody at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Bergdahl is the only captive POW from the war in Afghanistan.
