Joe Pavelski scored for the United States and Pavel Datsyuk for Russia scored in the third period to make it 2-2. After both teams failed to score in overtime, it was down to a shootout.

But it was St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie won over many fans in the United States as he scored four times in the shootout to seal the United State’s 3-2 win over Russia.

“I was just thinking of something else I could do, trying to keep him guessing,” Oshie said when talking about his shootout strategy against Russian goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. “Had to go back to the same move a couple of times, but I was glad it ended when it did. I was running out of moves there.”

Oshie was one of the final players selected to the team, and leads all American-Born NHL players with seven shootout goals this season for the Blues.
