“The LEGO Movie” Beats “The Monuments Men” in Debut Weekend

lego02?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1391966066468Warner Bros.(LOS ANGELES) — The LEGO Movie dominated The Monuments Men at this weekend’s box office- the debut weekend for both films. 

The LEGO Movie brought in about $69.1 million while The Monuments Men earned approximately $22.7 million.

The 3-D animated flick had easily the best opening of the year, and the second-best February opening of all time. And it wasn’t just kids who went to watch- according to ABC’s Jason Nathanson, almost 60% of the audience was over 18.

The LEGO Movie features the voices of actors including Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Channing Tatum, and Will Ferrell.

The Monuments Men, written and directed by George Clooney, stars Clooney alongside Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, and Jean Dujardin.
