Martin suffered the injury in the closing minutes of the team’s game Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. X-rays the following day revealed a fracture, and will have Martin on the shelf for an unknown period of time.

The 31-year-old Martin is the Timberwolves second leading scorer, averaging 19.0 points per game in his first season in Minnesota.

The Timberwovles are already dealing with an injury to starting center Nikola Pekovic, who will be out until at least the All-Star break with an ankle injury.

Despite having the third-best scoring mark in the NBA, the Timberwolves find themselves six games behind the Golden State Warriors for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
