USA Sweeps Men’s Ski Slopestyle

Joss Christensen earned the gold, Gus Kenworthy the silver and Nick Goepper (who skiis without poles) finished with the bronze as the U.S. sweeps the medals in the sports Olympic debut.

“I can’t really believe it right now, this is pretty crazy,” Christensen said. “It has been just an amazing day.”

It’s only the third time the U.S. has swept the medals at a Olympic Winter Games event. The other two times were in men’s figure skating in the 1956 Games and men’s snowboard halfpipe in 2002.

Christensen finished with a score of 95.80 beating Kenworthy by 2.20 and Goepper by 3.40.

Bobby Brown, the other American in the race, finished ninth.

The U.S. has now won four gold medals in Sochi.
