On Tuesday night, the Cowboys defeated No. 5 San Diego State 68-62 at home, snapping the Aztecs’ 20 game win streak.

Wyoming trailed early, but took a 19-17 lead on a Larry Nance, Jr. tip shot with just over nine minutes to play in the first half. However, the Aztecs trailed 32-23 at the break. The Cowboys extended their lead coming out of the locker room, ballooning it to 16 on a pair of Jerron Granberry free throws that made it a 52-36 contest with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation.

San Diego State, who had not lost since falling to Arizona in their second game of the year, made things interesting down the stretch. The Aztecs closed the gap to 67-62 with under a minute to play, and had a chance to get even closer. But as Matt Shirgley drove the lane, Granberry came up with a big block and rebound to deny the Aztecs and hold on to the victory.

Riley Grabau scored a game high 17 points for the Cowboys while Nance poured in another 14 in the win. Five different players scored in double figures for the Aztecs, led by 15 off the bench from Dwayne Polee II.
