(5) Louisville Wins AAC Tournament Over (21) UConn, 71-61
Published at(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) — Cardinals sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell had a team high 22 points and 11 rebounds as (5) Louisville (29-5) defeated (21) Connecticut (26-8), 71-61 on Saturday to win the inaugural American Athletic Conference tournament title.
With 3:13 left in the first half, the Cardinals went on a 10-2 run to take a 37-23 lead into half-time. Louisville would never look back as they clinched their 40th NCAA tournament berth.
Cardinals senior guard Russ Smith poured in 19 points and five steals while junior guard Chris Jones contributed 11 points.
Junior forward DeAndre Daniels led Connecticut with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
