(SANDPOINT, ID) – More than 500 people protested the proposed removal of a Ten Commandments monument at a public park in Sandpoint last week. City officials are considering plans to move the monument to private property after atheist and group filed a formal complaint, alleging a violation of the separation between church and state. The protesters, many of whom were Sandpoint natives, say outside groups don’t have a right to dictate what kinds of monuments can’t be in public areas.
