The 24-year-old from Gallatin, Tenn., was eliminated from the Fox competition after falling into the bottom three alongside Majesty Rose and Sam Woolf.

It was a very close vote. Host Ryan Seacrest said only .07 percent separated Ben and Majesty Rose.

With the judges’ save on the line, Ben performed Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ “Stars” — the same song Emily Piriz belted out before her elimination last week. However, Keith Urban informed Ben that he, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. would not use their save to keep him in the competition.

Ben had played Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” on the piano on Wednesday night’s performance show, as part of American Idol’s “movies” week.

Majesty Rose, Sam Woolf and the other contestants in the top 10 are now assured a spot on American Idol’s summer tour.

During the one-hour results show, Harry performed a medley of his hits “One Fine Thing” and “Come By Me.” He also reunited with Munfarid Zarid, the contestant he held in his arms after Munfarid’s successful audition in the season premiere. They reprised that moment for the studio audience.

The other musical guest was inspirational R&B artist Mali Music, who sang his new track, “Beautiful.”

Next Wednesday night on Fox, American Idol’s top 10 will tackle songs from the Billboard top 10 charts. J-Lo will perform her new single, “I Luh Ya Papi,” on the results show the following night.
