“I want to stay healthy and play every day,” Pujols said. “The numbers are going to be there at the end, because I know how to hit.”

Following the 2011 season, Pujos signed a 10-year, $240 million contract. After 11 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Pujols has yet to live up to expectations with the Angels.

In 2013, Pujols appeared in a career-low 99 games as he dealt with a partly torn plantar fascia in his left foot. He batted .258, hit 17 home runs, and drove in 64 runs. All were career-lows for the 34-year-old Pujols.

“He’s moving as well as he has in four or five years,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.

Pujols is just eight home runs away from 500 for his career.
