Irsay faces four felony counts after being arrested in the northern Indianapolis suburb of Carmel, according to the Hamilton County’s Sheriff Department.

“Multiple prescription drugs were discovered in pill bottles. These Schedule IV prescription drugs were not associated with any prescription bottles found in the vehicle,” according to the police, who said Irsay also failed several roadside field sobriety tests.

Irsay said in 2002 that he had become dependent on painkillers after having several orthopedic operations but that he overcame the issue by undergoing treatment.

In a tweet to fans in October 2013 Irsay said, “I don’t drink…haven’t in over 15 years.”

Irsay is now subject to league discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

“We are gathering information at this time regarding last night’s incident involving Jim Irsay,” The Colts said in a statement Monday morning. “The team will issue additional statements when the facts are sorted and we are aware of the next steps to this process. Many fans have reached out to express their concern and we appreciate their support.”

Irsay’s bond was set at $22,500.
