Sanchez’ deal with the Eagles is worth $2.25 million with a $750,000 signing bonus. He can earn up to $4 million in bonuses.

“We consider it a key position in this game, so having a chance to add Mark to that group was a no-brainer for us,” Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said. “Mark has started 68 games in his career and has taken his teams deep into the playoffs multiple times, so we really like what he brings to the table from an experience standpoint.”

Back in 2009, the Jets traded up to draft Sanchez fifth overall out of University of Southern California, hoping he’d become the team’s franchise quarterback for years to come.

He took the team to back-to-back AFC Championship games his first two seasons in the league, but inconsistent play and lack of development stunted his career path.

After injuring his shoulder during the preseason, he missed the entire 2013 season.

Sanchez is expected to compete for the backup quarterback spot behind Nick Foles.
