(CHALLIS, ID) – A small earthquake rattled portions of central Idaho northeast of Challis Monday. The magnitude 3.3 temblor hit at 12:43 p.m. and was followed by three aftershocks. The Custer County sheriff’s office fielded several calls in the immediate aftermath of the quake, which resulted in no injuries or noticeable damage. Challis was the location of the state’s largest recorded earthquake in 1983, when a magnitude 7.3 quake jolted the Lost River Range, resulting in two deaths and $12.5 million in damage.
